Saturday 13th January 1917
A fire in the West Stand at Bloomfield Road caused probably by the heating system in the dressing room badly damaged the only structure of note. When the firemen arrived the stand was a blazing inferno with a northerly wind causing the fire to completely destroy the entire southern end including both the original secretary’s office, the club’s boardroom including club records, many silver cups and a fine collection of historical photographs that adorned the office, prompting a rebuilding programme that would eventually result in the ground being constructed on the lines familiar with fans for the rest of the century.

Alan Suddick became the first player to score a penalty in the three major domestic competitions, League, F.A.Cup and League Cup, when he scored from the spot in the 2-1 FA Cup third round defeat away at Bradford City’s Valley Parade ground.
Tuesday 13th January 2004
Revised planning permission for a South Stand to include a fourth storey at Bloomfield Road was passed by Blackpool Council. “It means the stand will be about one metre higher than the North and West sides," said director Peter Whitehead. "There are still some other loose ends to be tied up but we are continuing to get closer to a position where we can begin construction."
