Rotherham United were the opponents at Bloomfield Road for the ‘Buy A Player’ match which attracted a crowd of 6,144 and provided cash to pay for the signing of Andy Watson. Second half goals from Dave Bamber and Phil Horner clinched a 2-0 win amid a marvellous atmosphere. Watson subsequently signed for Blackpool from Carlisle United for a fee of £55,000 in February 1993. [Peter - The rest relates to other days.] He scored his first League goal for Blackpool in the 60th minute against Preston North End on 27 February 1993 and he added a second in the 75th minute as the game was drawn 3-3. Appearing in 115 League games, scoring 43 goals while at Blackpool Watson was transferred to Walsall for a fee of £60,000 in September 1996.

Charlton defender Danny Shittu completed his loan signing with the Seasiders and went straight into the squad for the match against Lincoln. On obtaining Shittu's signature manager Steve McMahon said "I'm delighted that Danny has agreed to join us, he has come in at an important time for us, I have had him watched a number of times this season and all the reports have been very favourable, he is highly rated at Charlton." Shittu himself said "I am happy to be joining Blackpool at this time as they are in a great run of form and the move gives me an opportunity to play first team football and to show what I am capable of."
