Saturday 22nd January 1977

Having beaten Bristol Rovers 4-1 at the beginning of the season Manager Allan Brown commented before the West Country side’s visit to Bloomfield Road “We will be hoping for a similar result here”. However there was no score at half-time and Allan Brown must have given his team the same talking to as he had done at Derby in the FA Cup replay three days earlier for Blackpool started to play after the break. A Suddaby effort after five minutes  was handled on the line and Mickey Walsh scored from the spot kick. A Bill Bentley corner provided the second goal as Paul Hart leapt high above the defenders to power home a header and then Alan Ainscow hit a beautiful 35 yard ground shot which took a slight deflection on its way into the net. Six minutes from time a fourth goal put the icing on the cake Wood’s long clearance was picked up by Ronson who found Walsh whose pass was thundered home by Bill Bentley

Saturday 22nd January 1994

Blackpool ended a run of seven consecutive defeats with a 1-1 home draw against Swansea City after Andy Gouck scored Blackpool’s goal after seven minutes. The free admission attracted 7,080 spectators to Bloomfield Road and the experiment was deemed successful and manager Billy Ayre commented “The crowd was twice as big as we would have expected otherwise and it gave us all a lift.”

Tommy Jaszczun made his Blackpool debut in the 3-1 win at Gillingham on 22 January 2000 when, although "under pressure after the break", McMahon said of him, "Tommy Jaszczun was nervous. But there's loads to come from him. He's used to playing Reserve team outfit [sic] and even though it was at Premier League level it's still not the same as playing with the big boys. He'll be Okay." Of one vital contribution to the game Jaszczun commented, "I saw the ball coming towards me and that the 'keeper was going to miss it, so I just took my chance to clear it. It was important it stayed at 3-1 because we didn't want them coming at us right at the end needing just one goal to level it." Stephen Bushell scored his second goal in consecutive games with a 25-yard drive and he said of the strike "I don't think I will ever score one like it.  I got it  back from Tommy (Jaszczun) and just looked up.  I heard Kevin Richardson shout  'hit it' so I did!"
