Saturday 23rd January 1971
Having impressively disposed of star-studded West Ham United 4-0 in the third round Blackpool must have been confident of progressing to the last sixteen stage of the competition. Thousands of Pool fans boosted the enormous attendance at Boothferry Park to 34,752 which saw Peter Suddaby making his debut but the Seasiders gave a hugely disappointing performance as Second Division Hull City went into the hat for the Fifth round draw after winning the tie by two goals to nil.
