Blackpool played a friendly game against Hull City on 28th January 1956 and the game was drawn 5-5. Blackpool’s goals came from Jackie Mudie, four, and Bill Perry while Kenny Booth, in his initial game in the first team, “showed promise as a tricky inside-forward”. Stan Mortensen, who scored two of Hull’s goals, was “the brains of Hull’s attack”.
Saturday 28th January 1995
Blackpool thrashed Plymouth Argyle 5-2 after being 2-0 down at half-time and being booed from the field. Goals from Andy Watson (2) , Mickey Mellon (2) and Tony Ellis meant it was the first time that Blackpool had scored five goals in a half since August 1981 when Halifax were beaten 7-1. After the game, skipper Andy Morrison said “I was absolutely delighted it all came good in such convincing fashion.”
Friday 28th January 2000
Peter Whitehead was appointed to the Board of Directors. A Managing Director of Windmill Holdings, property development and consultancy businesses based in Lytham had been working with Karl Oyston since last summer in connection with the plans for re-development of the stadium and other land adjacent to Bloomfield Road. Whitehead said "I am delighted to accept the invitation to join the Board. My family and I are lifelong supporters of the Football Club. I look forward to contributing strongly to the Club and continuing to progress and implement the re-development plans".
