Thursday 30th December 2004
Blackpool striker Scott Taylor, 28, completed a move to Championship club Plymouth Argyle after agreeing personal terms with the Devon club. Pool accepted a £100,000 bid for Taylor on Tuesday evening and, after travelling to Home Park on Thursday morning to discuss the move with Pilgrims boss Bobby Williamson, Taylor penned a two-and-a-half year deal. Having come to Bloomfield Road on a free transfer from Stockport in January 2002, Taylor soon shrugged off his 'lower league journeyman' title with a fabulous return of 61 goals from 114 starts in all competitions. Alan Ainscow 1972
Scored one of Blackpool's goals in a 2-1 defeat of Brighton & Hove Albion on 30 December 1972 and he later reflected on that game in comparison with his performance at Preston. "I was brought right down to earth before the month was out when we travelled to Brighton for the last game of '72" he said. And he continued, "Here – despite my scoring a goal, my performance bore no resemblance to the Preston game. Whereas everything had gone right for me, at the Goldstone Ground it was the reverse. I kept giving the ball away, and found it hard work to stay in the game."
Max Thompson 1977
A Liverpool-born central defender who was signed by Blackpool on a month's loan from Liverpool on 30 December 1977. He had joined Liverpool as a 15-year-old apprentice, playing in the 'A' and 'B' teams, before signing as a professional in January 1974. He had played one League game for the club, at centre forward against Tottenham Hotspur, but had been in the EUFA Cup side and was a regular member of the championship winning reserve side. He joined Blackpool in the hope of first team football.
