The Scot said: "As soon as I came here, the gaffer told me he was going to get my confidence sky high and at the minute I'm so confident. He's trying to get me running at players so I can add that to my game.
"I saw the ball coming out to me and the first thing I thought was to shoot and lucky enough it went in.
"When I hit the crossbar earlier in the game I thought it was never going to happen - but I am delighted it did."
He will today sign a one-month deal as the Premier League club have injuries and want an immediate recall clause in place.
Whatever happens, Holloway is happy to have him.
"The lad has all sorts of ability," said the boss.
"He has to get on the move and get more of the ball and when he does he is a beautiful footballer, absolutely lovely to watch.
"He had already hit one great shot which had slammed down off the underside of the bar. These things happen. They either go in or they don't. I'm just glad the second strike bounced down off the bar and went in, because he deserved a goal.
"Hopefully that strike will settle him down and give him some more confidence."
