Blackpool V Bolton at Bloomfield Road - Match Preview

Appleton could keep faith with line-up

New Blackpool manager Michael Appleton has the option of naming an unchanged winning XI for his first game in charge against Bolton.

Steve Thompson, now Appleton's assistant at Bloomfield Road, led the Seasiders to a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night as caretaker boss - a first win in six outings.

No new injury problems were collected and although Ian Evatt returns from a one-match suspension for collecting five yellow cards, he may struggle to dislodge Craig Cathcart at centre-back after Blackpool kept their first clean sheet since August.

Chris Basham is well placed to keep his place in midfield after making a first start of the season at Hillsborough.

Veteran striker Kevin Phillips remains a major doubt with his persistent calf injury.

Midfielder Jacob Butterfield is available to make his Bolton debut.

Butterfield joined the Trotters on a month-long loan from Norwich on Thursday and gives a further selection boost to boss Dougie Freedman, who has no fresh injury worries for his third game at the helm.

David Ngog is pushing for a place up front once more having accrued a pair of bookings after bagging the winner against Cardiff last weekend, forcing him to miss Tuesday's goalless draw with Leicester.

"There's no injuries, which is great news for us," Freedman. "Credit to the medical people, they're working hard.

"If anything we've got some tired bodies because of two physical games on Saturday and Tuesday, so that's something for me to look at."

Long-term knee injury victims Stuart Holden, David Wheater, Josh Vela and Andy Lonergan remain on the sidelines.
