Blackpool striker DJ Campbell has vowed to make amends after a frustrating six weeks on the sidelines through suspension. The 29-year-old was handed a three-match ban for angrily pushing Wolves defender Richard Stearman in the Seasiders' dismal 4-0 Barclays Premier League defeat against Wolves on February 26. With the period since including two blank weekends due to Blackpool's early exit from the FA Cup and international fixtures, Campbell has had a long time to reflect on his misdemeanour.
Campbell, who has scored nine goals this term, is now anxious to put it right as the relegation-threatened Tangerines host Arsenal on Sunday, telling the club's website: "The last six weeks have been hell for me, if I'm honest."
He added: "When I'm not playing football, it's not a good thing. I need to be playing.
"Obviously I regret it. I get kicked all the time but I don't know why I reacted in that way.
"I play with a lot of passion and want to win and sometimes you let things get the better of you.
"I don't think I slept properly for two or three days after I was sent off.
"We have got seven games left and hopefully I can score the goals to put it right.
"I let the boys, the club and myself down and I've been thinking when I get back I've got to do as much as I can."
Blackpool are just a point above the bottom three after winning only one of their last 11 games.
Holloway- Fans must stick with us
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has urged supporters not to lose faith as the relegation battle intensifies.
The Seasiders are just a point above the bottom three in the Barclays Premier League after winning only one of their last 11 games.
Holloway, who guided the club to unexpected promotion and oversaw a flying start to top-flight life, was disappointed to hear one fan complaining during last weekend's loss at Fulham.
Holloway told the club's official website: "We need our fans to start believing. One bloke said, 'What's going on?' to me. "What's the matter with him? Can't you see it. They scored three we didn't.
"Did I want them to do that? What's the matter with the bloke? The rest of them were absolutely outstanding.
"You've got every right to say things but cheer on my lads will you? You complete chicken nugget - what is wrong with you? It is unbelieveable for us to be here with what we are paying our boys so let's get on with it."
