"Every footballer wants to play at the end of the day and the manager has brought me in after a few injuries to the squad," he told the club website.
"There's already two centre-halves in Zak Whitbread and Elliott Ward who did really well at the weekend and hopefully I can push them and give it a real go."
With first choice defender Leon Barnett sidelined for the rest of the season, Canaries boss Paul Lambert had stated his intention to make a signing in the loan market.
"He's got experience and has seen it and done it with Blackpool last year, and he'll be a big asset in the 14 games remaining this season," said Lambert.
Edwards started his career at Aston Villa and made eight Premier League appearances before switching to West Midlands rivals Wolves.
In August 2008 he joined Blackpool, where he has played 68 times, including 21 league games en route to last season's Championship play-off final victory.
