Everyone deserves a holiday. At least that's what my missus keeps telling me. Personally, my holidays for the next twelve months will be taken in nineteen two-hour chunks at a nice English seaside resort, a few hundred yards from the beach, with live entertainment provided.
Having said that, and despite the fact that "he who pays the piper calls the tune", there are surely better times for our chairman to go on his holidays. I'm sure his wrist could do with a rest (from signing cheques, of course), but he seems to have the knack of being away when he's really needed.
Never mind. He's back next week, and one of the first things likely to happen then is a dialogue between the club and a couple of other clubs in our league, both of whom have Scottish managers regarding season long loans, with a bid for Swansea's Angel Rangel possible as a contingency. Add to that continued discussions with another Scottish manager about a central defender that the Gaffer has been chasing for a while, and the picture begins to look a lot healthier.
With Malaury Martin due to sign, we have also been led to believe that an approach for Rob Hulse is imminent, as well as a deal already being discussed for Oldham starlet Eaves. Sources also tell us that Robert Koren's wage demands may have been substantially revised due to his desire to play in the Premier League, and the chairman might be pleasantly surprised when he gets back to his office.
So, not really any news that hasn't been publushed or speculated about elsewhere, but we understand that this is all a bit more than just picking names out of the air or message board speculation.
There may well be many Seasiders fans feeling a lot more positive seven days from now.
We'd love to tell you more, but we can't....
