The clash was moved for TV purposes, but with both sides back in league action less than 48 hours later, recovery time is at a minimum, especially as the game went to a penalty shoot-out.
"I am sure I will calm down," Holloway told Sky Sports 1. "I am sure every manager wants to show this competition respect. "But you need to use a bit of common sense, we've got two and a half hours to get home."
He added: "Luckily Wednesday are at home, but they have to travel to Bournemouth (on Saturday) which is ridiculous. We all want to be in the competition but surely someone upstairs could say, 'Let's just have penalties (after 90 minutes), we don't want extra-time'."
Billy Clarke and Craig Sutherland missed golden chances in the second half, but after it ended goalless in 120 minutes, Blackpool missed their first two penalties and League One Wednesday took control, with James O'Connor striking the decisive kick.
Wednesday manager Gary Megson made 10 changes to his side from the line-up that beat Rochdale in the league last week and he was impressed with his men, who have been rewarded with a second-round tie at Blackburn.
"I liked the attitude, it was whole-hearted," Megson told Sky Sports 1. "The way that we adapted was good, we chopped and changed with our formation all the time and at times we rode our luck.
"I'm really pleased with the attitude and the honesty.
"That's two clean sheets so far and two results and hopefully we can keep that going."
