Following the win in the Fylde derby over Fleetwood Town the Seasiders were rewarded with a home tie in the 4th Round against former Pool-boss Gary Megson's high-flying Sheffield Wednesday in League One.
This is the first home tie at Bloomfield Road since Ipswich Town progressed at the expense of the Seasiders to the fourth round of the FA Cup in a controversial game that saw two Blackpool players dismissed and manager Ian Holloway sent to the stands.
Sheffield Wednesday earned their visit to the Seaside after Chris O'Grady scored a late winner against fellow Championship side West Ham United.
Ian Holloway who fielded a strong side at Highbury will be looking for revenege against the Owls after Gary Megson's side knocked out much changed Seasiders in the first round of the League Cup in a forgettable Live TV transmitted tie at Hillsbrough in August which saw Wednesday win 4-2 on penalties after neither side could find the net after extra time.
The tie which will unlikely be affected by TV coverage will be played at Bloomfield Road on Saturday 28th January kick-off 3pm.
