French midfielder Malaury Martin is on trial at Barclays Premier League newcomers Blackpool.
Martin, 21, represented his country at all youth levels but his club career has stalled.
He spent last season on loan with Nimes after failing to make an impact at Monaco.
Martin was also on trial with Chicago Fire before arriving at Blackpool this week when they resumed training on Thursday ahead of their maiden season in the Premier League.
Evatt told the Blackpool Gazette: "People keep stopping me and ask how I'm sleeping at night, saying you've got to play against players like (Wayne) Rooney, (Jermain) Defoe and (Didier) Drogba. But they've got two legs just the same as anyone else.
If you go into a match judging people on their reputation then you're going to struggle."
He added: "So what we need to do is go out on the pitch and play the way we have always played. I have no doubt that with the fantastic team spirit we've got, we'll do ourselves justice."
